Pevine had a major goal of forming an Open Beefmaster Show Association. He had a vision of seeing Beefmaster cattle shown at the Houston Livestock Show. Pevine fought a lot of opposition trying to achieve his goal but he never gave up. He was co-founder of the Beefmaster Promotion Group, beginning the journey to accomplish his dream.

The first ever "Open to the World Beefmaster Show" was held on April 22, 2007 in Madisonville, TX, marking the beginning of a new era for the Beefmaster breed. Then on March 5, 2008, Pevine's dream became a reality. The inaugural Open Beefmaster show at one of the largest livestock shows in the world--the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. From there, the BPG has grown by leaps and bounds.

Pevine was a cattle rancher at heart for over 40 years. He was a 4-H leader, girls softball coach, Go Texan committee member, Houston Livestock Show committee member, and an avid supporter of the JBBA where he was awarded the Helping Hand Award in 2012, for his contributions to the association. Pevine touched so many people's lives in many different venues. He was always there to lend a hand, doing it with a smile.
