REMEMBER, you must be a BPG member to show.  There is a membership form on our website.  Just print it out and bring it with you to your next show or mail it in to Linda Hicks.  These dues ultimately go back to our membership in premium money and awards.  See Gina Paris at the shows to get your exhibitor number stamped to show you are a paid member of BPG.  This is a new procedure we are trying to show proof of membership.  Help us Help YOU!  You will have your name listed in our Membership Directory that will be handed out in 2018!

We will have a BPG meeting in Abilene on Sunday morning, Sept. 10 at 9:00 am.  Will announce the meeting room.

HEALTH PAPERS--Reminder that all bulls 20 months old and older must have a BSE performed.  I have attached a form to this email if you need a copy of one.  Some vets do not have these forms.  You only have to have this done one time in the bulls show career, but please keep the form with you just in case any questions ever arise.  Make sure you get with me before the show so I can check these papers.

HEIFERS exhibited at 24 months of age or older must be accompanied by a certificate of pregnancy or be nursing their natural calf at side (under 6 months of age).  Females with calves over 6 months of age must be palpated safe in calf by a licensed veterinarian.  Make sure this is checked.

April 2017 Newsletter
  Dear BPG Members,

Hope everyone had a very Blessed Easter and were able to spend time with family members.  This year is passing so quickly!  It's hard to believe Easter has already passed.

We had a great show, sale and meeting during Houston.  Our numbers continue to be on the rise. I believe Beefmaster cattle were extremely well represented by the quality animals that BPG members continue to walk into the show ring.  I would like to commend all of you on doing such an excellent job.

The semen tank that we auctioned off brought in $7500.  A big "thank you" goes out to all of the breeders that donated semen to go in this tank.  This was the first time that all of the past Grand and Reserve Champion Bulls were ever put together in a tank.  Thanks to our donors, this was quite a unique offering.  Channarock Farms, Ellis Beefmasters, Emmons Ranch, Vaughn Family Farm, Gilmore Ranch, HG Griffin, Zipperer Beefmasters, Rafter G Bar, Anderson Beefmasters, Wallen Prairie Ranch and Grullo Beefmasters.

We also had semen donated by Larry & Sherri Ellis--Ellis' Hollywood, CB Supreme--N-U Ruston and Wallen Prairie Ranch--WPR's Primetime.  Our members are so generous and that is what keeps BPG growing!!

The BPG International Beefmaster Gala had a sale average of $5185, up from $3920 last year.  The sale grossed $103,700.  Thanks to all the consignors for working so hard to make the sale happen.

An issue that was brought up at our meeting was the difficulty it is in collecting dues from our members.  Some of you pay on time (Yeah!!) and always take care of your business.  Some, on the otherhand, make it very difficult to collect their dues.  Dues are a big money maker for our association.  Just at the Houston show alone, the BPG paid out $3500 in premium money (which Houston matches) and about $2000 in awards.  That costs us $5500 at 1 show, which shows how much we need to collect the dues money.  Gina Paris has been collecting the dues since the Fort Worth show and has worked really hard trying to make sure no one gets away without paying.  If you see Gina coming with guns blazing, you better give her money!!!!!  She is on a mission!
I have requested to all of the fall shows to put at the top of our page, dues must be paid before entering the show ring.

Hopefully, this will help.  Gina will have a booth set up with a sign at each show.  She has ordered BPG logo stamps to stamp your exhibitor numbers as being a paid member of BPG.  Please go by her booth after you check in and get your exhibitor numbers stamped as being a paid BPG member.  Help police this by sending exhibitors to Gina if you do not see the "paid stamp" on anyone's numbers.  This is to help everyone in our group.  The money that BPG collects, either by dues or donations, goes back to the members in premium money and awards.  Help Us Help You!!

Another way BPG members benefit by paying their dues is FREE advertising.  BPG is putting together a membership directory for its membership.  We are offering all members the opportunity to advertise their program in this directory.  Each member can put a full page ad in this directory.  It must be camera ready for a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 page book.  The deadline for all ads is September 1.  The directory will be handed out beginning at the Fort Worth Livestock Show.  You can email these ads to me.

BPG awarded the inaugural Hall of Fame Females and Hall of Fame Bulls at the Houston Livestock Show.  It was so exciting to see this actually happen.  Each recipient was awarded a certificate and will be awarded a bronze as soon as they are finished.  If you received one of these awards, please send me a photo of your animal, with name and pedigree to go on our Hall of Fame page on the website.  Congratulations to all of you.  A big "THANKS" to Mona Mink for taking the extra time to tally all of these points from 2008.

February 2017 Newsletter
  Dear BPG Members,

Our 2016 year-end banquet was held at Los Vaqueros in Fort Worth on January 16.  A large crowd was in attendance and we filled our room to capacity!  Hope everyone had a great time visiting and socializing with friends.  It is awesome to have a group of such wonderful folks!

A lot of people have been working hard to keep BPG running so smoothly.  At Fort Worth and San Antonio, Gina Paris has done an incredible job getting all of our dues collected and Mike Griffith has been quietly making sure our hair looked exquisite and that our cattle go into the show ring in the correct place. Mona Mink continues to keep all of our points tallied up to give out all of our awards.  Thanks to ya'll for your help.

The Beefmaster Promotion Group General Membership meeting will be held on Saturday, March 11 at 9:30 am at the Houston Livestock Show.  The location will be NRG Center 2nd Floor--Cafe on the Park.  Please mark your calendars for that day, hopefully we will have a large attendance with new ideas and thoughts.  Elections will be held, plus other business.

We have 20 lots in the BPG International Beefmaster Gala Sale. The sale will be Saturday, March 11 at 3:30 pm.  I have attached the catalog and it is also posted on the website.  There are some awesome cattle that will be available for purchase.  Please support your fellow members by attending the sale and bidding on some of these lots.  These animals and semen will work in anyone's herd.  We, as a group, need to stick together and make this a great sale that everyone is talking about.  Please post the catalog on your Face Book and any other social media venues.  WE CAN DO IT!!!

Elgin Breeding Service will be sponsoring our Pre-Sale festivities.  Be sure you thank them for their support of our group.

Another unique fund raiser lot has been put together for BPG. Semen has been donated from all but 2 of the past Houston Livestock Show Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Bulls.  This semen is in a brand new MVE XC 20 semen tank that the buyer can take home with them from the sale, along with all AI certificates.  We have had a BPG Open Beefmaster Show in Houston since 2008.  There are 5 straws of 16 past champions in this tank.  Some of this semen is off the market and very limited.  Don't miss a chance of a lifetime to purchase this semen tank.  Thanks so much to all of the breeders that donated their valuable semen to BPG.  Again, please post this Champion's Semen Brochure on all social media outlets.  I would also like to thank Amy and Casey Ballard for getting all the semen together and to Morgan Mink for creating our booklet.  With your help, we can keep this organization at the top!

We also have 3 other semen donation lots in the sale catalog to help support BPG.  Thanks so much to those breeders for their support as well.

Our show numbers continue to increase.  We had the largest show at the Fort Worth Livestock Show that we have had there.  Also in San Antonio, the numbers were up from last year.  Thanks to all of you that continue to support BPG and our great breed of cattle.

A big thank you goes out to our latest buckle donors:

LINDA HICKS--Fort Worth Livestock Show Grand Champion Female Buckle--                                        In Memory of Pevine Hicks

LYSSY BEEFMASTERS--San Antonio Livestock Show Grand & Reserve Champion Female
               Grand & Reserve Champion Bull

At our meeting in March 2016, it was voted on that the Show Heifer of the Year, the Show Bull of the Year, and the Breeder of the Year awards would be presented at the Houston Livestock Show.  During the break between the females and the bulls, we will present those 3 awards.

Also, as we have talked about at our prior meetings, giving out a new set of awards.  We will award these during the Houston show as well.  These Hall of Fame awards will be the highest accumulated point earners in their lifetime of showing, both females and males.  Certificates will be handed out to the owners of these animals.  The actual awards have not been completed yet so we will take a photo with a dummy trophy and the real trophies should be completed this summer.  This will be an exciting time--awarding individual animals for their lifetime point earnings.

That's all I can think of for now.

See ya in Houston!
Cindy
